About This Opportunity ….
We are looking for a team player to work in a fast-paced environment with an interest in color and fabric. The Color Coordinator will facilitate the color approval process for a specific category within the Children'''s Division at Garan. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to reviewing all color (lab dips/strike-offs/bulk threads/wash down ranges/etc.), ordering sample yardage, keeping track of all approvals in PLM, following up with mills/vendors, etc. Color should be your passion!
This is an in-person, full-time position at Garan'''s New York City Headquarters. This opportunity is cross-functional, working in tandem with Design, Sourcing, Production and Costing team.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
? Facilitates all color approvals for a specific category within the Children’s Division
? Request all lab dips and strike-offs from mills per brand category and fixture
? Reviews all color and provides color direction to mills for (lab dips/strike-offs/trims/bulk threads/wash down ranges/etc.)
? Make glds for all lab dip, strike-off and graphic screen-print approvals and send any rejection comments to mills for lab dips and strike-offs
? Follows up and pushes mills for all lab dips/strike-offs eta and X-Mill status to ensure on-time color approval
? Order sample yardage from mills and give mills direction/answers regarding all solid/print/pattern development questions
? Request trim sample yardage for carryover trims
? Create lab dip and print approval boards for cross-functional visibility and reference
? Follows up and pushes mills on all sample ydg development/sending status/tracking fabric until it’s received at the factory
? Ensure PLM, excel charts, and all records are maintained with all approval status and color comments
? Send approval cuttings to Garan’s China Office and Starkville Office
? General organizational responsibilities include record keeping, filing, and maintenance of storage areas
? Make color cards in the beginning of the season for all design teams, buyers, factories, mills and Garan BD/SZO
? Maintain color library
? Perform Datacolor duties as needed
Qualifications:
? Bachelor’s degree required in a related field
? Minimum 2 years relevant work experience in textiles/product development/color analysis required
? Strong understanding of textiles and product development preferred
? Knowledge of color theory, color matching, and printing techniques preferred
? Must pass the Farnsworth Munsell 100 Hue Test
? Experience with communicating with overseas mills/suppliers is a must
? Proficient in PLM, Excel & Word is a plus
? Must pay close attention to detail
? Must have a strong sense of urgency
? Must have the ability to work in a cross-functional team environment
? Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
? Strategic and proactive thinker
? Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills a must
? Must be a team player, but also can operate independently
